Docutech - Finance Assistant

Reporting to: CEO
Location: Dukinfield

 

Role Overview

The Finance Assistant is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. The role covers sales and purchase ledger management, credit control, banking transactions, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The Finance Assistant plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting business decision making, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Ledger Management & Credit Control

  • Manage both sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Oversee credit control, including monitoring outstanding invoices, chasing payments, and maintaining healthy cash flow.
  • Raise and input invoices in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Banking & Reconciliations

  • Process all banking transactions, including cash postings.
  • Perform weekly bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions match financial records.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations as required.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate financial records to support month-end and year-end processes.
  • Assist with preparing financial reports for the CEO.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, policies, and best practices.

Process Improvement & Support

  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and controls.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Support external audits and liaise with accountants where necessary.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a similar finance role.
  • Strong knowledge of sales and purchase ledger management.
  • Experience with credit control and cash flow management.
  • Proficiency in bank reconciliations and general finance operations.
  • Familiarity with balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Sage and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable Skills

  • AAT qualification or equivalent financial certification (or working towards one).
