Community rallies for mental health charity football day at Woodhams Park

A Dukinfield man has organised a charity football day to raise awareness and vital funds for Mentell, following a tragic few weeks for the local community.

Daniel Hargreaves decided to take action after three young men from the area sadly lost their lives to mental health struggles in the past three weeks - one of whom was a close friend.

The event will be held on Sunday, 19th October 2025, at Woodhams Park football pitch, Blocksages, Dukinfield, with a 1.30pm kick-off.

The day will centre around a charity football match. Daniel is also working with local businesses to provide raffle prizes for a £1 a strip raffle, with every penny raised going to Mentell.

The event aims to create a family-friendly atmosphere, with children’s activities and entertainment planned alongside the football to bring the whole community together.

Daniel said: “In light of recent weeks events I have setup a charity day to raise awareness and money for Mentell.”

Mentell is a charity that offers safe, free, and confidential spaces for men to talk about their mental health.

Daniel and his team are encouraging local families, friends, and football fans to come along to show their support.

All proceeds from the day will go directly to Mentell.
