The National Car Park (NCP) in Ashton-Under-Lyne on Cotton Street is set to be closed tomorrow (27 March).
This car park, along with 21 others, has gone into administration; reports state that the company had faced “a challenging trading environment” in recent years.
It is said that the car park could no longer afford to pay its creditors after consistently losing money. The administrator, PwC, said that the “shifts in commuting and customer driving patterns” led to the demand for parking not recovering to pre-Covid levels.
NCP, founded in 1913, is one of the biggest car park operators in the UK, running 340 car parks across the country. Although 22 car parks are closing, 318 across the UK will continue to operate with no further closures planned.
