Residents have been warned of further restrictions as work continues on the A57 link road.
National highways have written to people living near the project site about changes to the road layout as construction work progresses.
From Monday, there will be a lane closure on Mottram Moor, between the Back Moor traffic lights and the Gun Inn,
Traffic will be single file in both directions as work is carried out between 8pm an 6am to remove the pedestrian island.
On Sunday, January 19, there will be a lane closure on the section of road between Back Moor traffic lights and the bus layby.
The closure will remain for the duration of the scheme.
Spokesman Andrew Scatchard said: "We want to reassure you that we are committed to minimising the disruption to road users and residents whilst ensuring work is carried out safely.
"We understand that the pavement on Mottram Moor is often used for parking by some residents. We'd ask if you could find alternative parking if possible."
