A celebration of walking in Glossopdale

Move More Glossop is currently holding its first walking festival and there's still time to get involved.

It started on Monday (15 May) and runs until Friday 26 May.

The event is aimed at encouraging the community of Glossopdale to walk for pleasure, mental health, travel, interest and for physical wellbeing.

With the help of Glossop Leisure Centre, there are different walking groups taking place every day and there is something for everyone - regardless of your ability level.

Helen Thornhill, from Move More Glossop, said: "We are showcasing the existing walking groups, we are also launching new groups and we have some special guest walks.

"We have an active travel school competition, where the students are encouraged to walk their school journeys daily and they can win vouchers to spend on equipment for their playgrounds.

"We also have a business competition again where we are encouraging employers to ask their workforce to walk to work. There are some great prizes, including a three-month leisure centre pass, a £50 Love to Shop voucher and five £20 vouchers for Pepino Deli.

"Everyone that takes part in the organised walks during the two weeks are welcome to a free brew and cake at Pepino Deli, funded by Move More Glossop, to bring a social aspect to all the walking groups."
