Additional train services on the way

There will be more trains running on lines in the High Peak and in Tameside from Monday 6 July. 

During the lockdown, which was imposed on 23 March, Northern Trains - which is now government owned - has been running significantly reduced timetables for key workers to make essential journeys. 

But as restrictions continue to ease, the company are now putting on additional services to ensure people can get to work. 

It is reminding passengers to use trains for essential travel only and to wear a face covering if applicable. More info on face coverings and exceptions can be found here.

The timetable changes will mean more hourly services and frequent trains during the morning and evening rush hour. 

These will be the new temporary timetables for Mondays to Saturdays: 

Manchester Piccadilly - Hadfield / Glossop

Manchester Piccadilly - Buxton line

Manchester Piccadilly - Rose Hill and Sheffield line (covering New Mills Central)

Manchester Victoria - Ashton / Stalybridge line

High Peak MP Robert Largan commented: "I'm pleased that Northern are putting on extra train services from Monday 6th July.

"There will be two additional morning and evening services between New Mills Central and Manchester Piccadilly. Trains between Glossop/Hadfield and Manchester Piccadilly will be back to every 30 minutes. Services on the Buxton line will remain at hourly with some additional peak services. Hope Valley stations will continue to get an hourly service as well.

"This will certainly help as more people return to work but in the long term, I continue to fight for better rail services for the whole of High Peak."
