A County Council by-election has been called for Whaley Bridge & Blackbrook following the sad passing of Alison Fox last year.
The division includes not just Whaley Bridge, but the communities of Buxworth, Chapel Milton, Chinley, Combs, Fernilee, Furness Vale, New Smithy, Taxal, Tunstead Milton, Whitehough and the Whaley side of Chapel-en-le-Frith, up to Crossings Road.
The closing date for councillor nominations is this Friday at 4pm (17th January.)
If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 13 February 2020 with applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 28th January 2020.
