Calling all those who remember Woodheys Restaurant

Your voice could be part of preserving a piece of this very special restaurant’s past.

Woodheys Restaurant, nestled on Glossop Road in Chisworth, was much more than just a place to dine - it was once a beloved family home and the heart of a family-run business that served the community from 1964 until 2000.

For those who knew it well, Woodheys was filled with laughter, hospitality, and countless unforgettable moments. Whether you were a regular customer, a member of staff, or someone who simply passed through its doors.

Now, one of the family members who grew up in Woodheys (born in the house, no less!) is writing a book to capture the magic of those years - especially the humorous and heartwarming stories that made the place so special.

Vivienne Bouchier is reaching out to anyone who still remembers Woodheys, either former staff or loyal customers, to share your own memories, big or small.

Whether it’s a funny incident in the dining room, a kitchen mishap, a favourite dish, or just a fond recollection of the warm atmosphere, your stories could help bring this unique chapter of local history to life once more.

Sadly, and somewhat poignantly, the building is now being demolished to make way for housing. But while the bricks may be gone, the memories live on.

If you have a story to share about Woodheys, please get in touch with Vivienne: vivbouchier@yahoo.co.uk
