A hearing is set to take place after it was alleged that a former Derbyshire police officer drove a police vehicle in an “unauthorised and inconsiderate manner”.
Former PC Jordan Edwards is alleged to have breached the police code of conduct and a misconduct hearing will be held later this month.
It is alleged the former police officer’s use of the marked police vehicle was unauthorised and inconsiderate “on two separate occasions”.
The misconduct hearing is scheduled to take place for two days from Wednesday, March 26 at Derbyshire police’s HQ in Ripley.
A misconduct hearing notice, published on the Derbyshire police website, says: “The former officer will answer allegations that his conduct breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of ‘Discreditable Conduct’, ‘Duties and Responsibilities’ and ‘Orders and Instructions’ in that, on two separate occasions, he drove a marked police vehicle in an unauthorised and inconsiderate manner.
“These allegations are contrary to the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020. This hearing is currently scheduled to last for two days and will be held in public.”
No more details of the allegations have been given at this stage.
Misconduct hearings are held to present the facts of the case and allow the person to give an explanation of their conduct and the circumstances surrounding the allegation. Witnesses may also be called to give evidence.
The hearing involving former PC Edwards in this case will be held in public. Occasionally, a misconduct hearing is not held in public or only a part is heard in public.
The purpose of a public hearing is to show that Derbyshire police’s disciplinary system is “open and transparent”.
