There was a big turnout as Glossop said a final farewell to a much-loved former gym owner.
Patrick Joseph Campbell, known to many as Paddy, sadly passed away at his Whitfield home on 14 April at the age of 76.
A former Manchester United season ticket holder and originally from Ireland, Paddy owned The Bodycheck gym on Gladstone Street for a number of years and was well liked by everyone who knew him.
He leaves behind his wife Daphne, two sons Colin and Glenn, and six grandchildren Jordan, Lucy, Sophie, Reuben, Johnny and Thomas.
Paddy's funeral was held at St Mary's Crowned Catholic Church on Thursday morning (28 April).
The coffin arrived at St Mary's Church, which was packed with people who knew Paddy, in a glass panelled hearse pulled by black horses with green and orange plumes and followed by around 100 mourners, all in procession down St. Mary's Road.
Following the service, a succession of family and friends carried the coffin from the church gates up Sumner Street and across Tredcroft Street, up Hollincross Lane and across Princess Street to the junction of St. Mary's Road, where it was transferred to the hearse and taken all the way to Glossop Cemetery.
The procession is understood to be part of most funerals in Belfast, where Paddy came from.
The service was taken by Rev. Father Martin Sylvester.
The family kindly asked for donations be made to Cancer Research UK in Paddy's memory instead of flowers.
