Glossop Car Show is go!

Thousands of people will flock to the annual Glossop Car Show in Manor Park today, where 300 motors are expected to be on display.

Hosted by the Glossop Vehicle Enthusiasts Club (GVEC), the free event began in 2004 and will feature many classic, retro and pre-war cars, military transport, unusual commercial vehicles and rare modern high-performance models.

There will be dozens of food and drink, trade and charity stalls around the site, and plenty of music and entertainment throughout the day.

Funds raised from sponsorship, those displaying their cars, and the on-site tombola will go to good causes. The GVEC have chosen three charity partners this year:

SSAFA Derbyshire, helps those serving in the armed forces, veterans and their families
Reuben’s Retreat, supports families through child loss or those who have children with complex medical needs
Blythe House Hospice, assists people with cancer and other life-limiting conditions in the High Peak

The High Peak’s biggest car show is open from 10am-4pm with free entry for members of the public.

Tameside Radio’s Mark Andrews will be soaking up the atmosphere and providing updates and interviews on his show from 9am.

Tune in online or on 106.3FM.
