Glossop churches join together for Great Big Green Week

Churches in Glossopdale are joining together for Great Big Green Week, with a range of events people can get involved in.

Running from Saturday 24 September until Sunday 2 October, the week is the UK's biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.

On Saturday 24th, the Glossop parkrun will provide the perfect way to celebrate the wonderful green space of Manor Park.

The fun activity is open to all ages and abilities. Meet in Manor Park – next to the tennis courts near the Manor Park Road entrance – at 8.30am.

More information about the parkrun is available at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/glossop/course/

At Glossop Parish Church of All Saints on Sunday 25th Great Big Green Week will be celebrated. After the service, there will be an opportunity to sample some Fairtrade products and there will be a Fairtrade Raffle.

On Tuesday 27th September, there will be the Great Big Green Walk. Everyone is invited to meet in Norfolk Square at 1pm for the walk that will give an opportunity to look at the local neighbourhood and to have conversations about tackling climate change and protecting nature.

The walk starts and finishes at Norfolk Square and is approximately two-and-a-half miles long with some uneven ground, possibly muddy in places. Finish back in Norfolk Square for tea/coffee and cake at a local café.

The footpath from Brookfield (A57) to Gamesley will be the focus of attention on Saturday 1st. Litter heroes will meet at 10.30am at the Cottage Lane end of the footpath to litter pick for an hour.

More information about litter heroes can be found at https://www.keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/volunteer/litter-heroes.
