Glossop groups in the money

Glossopdale Masonic Lodge completed their 2018/19 year of giving by presenting further cheques to deserving local causes.

It now brings the grand amount to £4,600.

At an evening at the Henry Street lodge, representatives of five local charities received cheques totalling £1,700.

Glossop North End Juniors FC was handed £1,000 towards ambitious plans to develop its Cemetery Road headquarters, with a purpose-built clubhouse, relaying new and upgrading  playing surfaces.

Glossop RVS Luncheon Club was given £200 to help with providing meals and activities at Dinting Scout Headquarters off Simmondley Lane.

Glossopdale Foodbank also received £200 to help buy food for the 16,000 emergency meals which it can be called on to supply every  year. 

Another £200 went to Glossop Age Concern to help with the rental of their premises at Bradbury House.

Friends of Howard Park were given £100 to go towards their two annual events, The Teddy-Bears Picnic in the summer, and Carols In The Park in December.

The lodge also made a £400 donation to The Harebell Suite at Tameside Hospital in memory of Gerald Upton.

Gerald, a member of Glossopdale Lodge, died on January 20 this year.

The Harebell Suite Trust Fund forms part of the Maternity Unit Bereavement Services, and is for the comfort of families of stillborn babies or those who are not expected to live.

Making the presentations were the Lodge’s current Master, John Acton, and other members.
