Officers were called out to reports of an assault at a property on Snake Road, Glossop, just after 9pm on Sunday 7th December.
A 50-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries and a man was arrested in relation to the incident.
Derbyshire Constabulary have now charged Peter Wilson, of Snake Road, Glossop, with section 18 wounding with intent.
The 61-year-old appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 9th December and was bailed with conditions to reappear at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday 6th January.
The woman and her family are being supported by specialist officers.
