Glossop man jailed for money laundering

A former Glossop accountant has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison by a judge at Manchester Crown Court.

David Pape (pictured), with offices in High Street East, was found guilty of two charges following a trial which finished on 23 July.

The 44-year-old, whose address was given as Kilmory Fold in Glossop, was sentenced to 18 months for furnishing false information relating to accounts and five years for money laundering - to be served consecutively.

He was sentenced at the court in Crown Square on Thursday and will attend a Proceeds of Crime hearing on Friday 6 December.

Senior financial investigator Adrian Ladkin, of GMP’s Economic Crime Unit, said: “As a chartered Accountant, Pape was in a position of trust, but he spectacularly failed in his legal duties through his corrupt and unlawful actions.

"Pape was fully aware that the purpose of the transactions for committing fraud and laundering criminal proceeds and he was deliberately dishonest in facilitating them.

"It is thanks to the meticulous work of the officers in this case that today they have been brought to account for their deceitful actions."
