Dr. Shirley Woods-Gallagher of Glossop has been included on the prestigious National Diversity Power List, which celebrates people who push for diversity in their local communities.
A trustee for the Greater Manchester charity Respect for All and an advisor to organisations such as the British Board of Film Classification, Dr. Woods-Gallagher is pushing for more neuroinclusion in workplaces.
She is also a recipient of the UNESCO and International Federation of Inclusive Practitioners Global Inclusion Award 2024.
On being included on the list, Dr. Woods-Gallagher said: “Receiving this award and my story is way bigger than me. Just 3 in 10 autistic people are paid in the UK today. If we can get it to 6 in 10 people, just like all the other disabled people, it’s worth £1.5 billion to the UK economy.”
This is the third year the Diversity Power List has been running, with previous names on the list ranging from London Mayor Sadiq Khan to BBC Proms Director David Pickard."
Organisations are also included with Channel 4 and Amazon listed previously.
