Glossop's McDonalds set to open this month

A new McDonalds restaurant is set to open in Glossop on January 24, making it the first branch to ever open in the High Peak.

The restaurant is built on the former site of Wren's Nest and will have a 24-hour drive-through service.

It's set to provide around 120 full and part-time roles, although some local residents are unhappy about McDonalds coming to Glossop.

Residents have taken to social media to express their thoughts on the matter, saying: "Great, even more litter on the streets"; "Can't wait to read all the complaints about the litter and the anti-social behaviour"; and "No issue with McDonalds, however location will be an issue traffic wise".

On the other hand, users have said it's a good addition for the town for many reasons: "I think it’s great, they have employed locals to work there and pay is much better than other places for those under 21"; "Personally I'm looking forward to being able to get it back warm rather than sitting in that Mottram queue. Shall see how it goes."
