Hadfield Infants School is looking for knitters

Children using a story sack.

Can you knit? If so, can you spare a couple of hours each Friday to help the children at Hadfield Infants School?

Head teacher Alison Barnes is looking for volunteers to knit characters for story sacks.

The initiative helps children select a sack and use the knitted items inside to tell a story.

Alison said: “Ideally we’d like to set up a ‘Knit and Natter’ session each Friday afternoon.

“It’ll be good fun and you’ll be helping the children out with their story-telling.

“Story sacks are stored in the library and then used by the children to tell a story from the book within.

“It’s a lovely idea and something we’d like to expand in the school.”

Pupils can even take the sacks home to tell their parents a story.

If you’re interested in helping you can give Alison a call on 01457 853958.
