It’s ‘all systems go’ for Hayfield’s Apple Day, being held this Saturday, October 12th, 1.00-4.30p.m. at the village primary school on Swallow House Lane.
From allotment displays, a ‘clothes swap’, children’s ‘apple olympics’, art show, storytelling and woodland activities through to market stalls, a repair café and talks on apple grafting, beekeeping and woodland management, there’s something to cater for all tastes. There’s also the chance to get your own freshly-pressed apple juice from this year’s crop from the village orchard.
There’s also displays from event organisers, Sustainable Hayfield, reflecting its work on biodiversity, energy and transport. There’s live bluegrass music, and a mummers’ play, to provide a welcoming background to proceedings.
Apple Day which traces its roots back to commemorating traditional apple varieties but it’s grown well beyond that.
The event is free.
