Kind-hearted folk donate from near and far

Big-hearted Glossopians - including some in the States - have been digging deep to support Christian Aid Week.

Glossopdale Churches Together raised £3,000 for the charity last year with a house-to-house collection and a coffee morning.

With the coronavirus pandemic ruling that out this year, the churches set up a Just Giving page.

They made a similar target, the Chronicle posted their appeal and it looks like they will achieve it.

Chris Nudds, from Central Methodist Church who ran the appeal with Sheila Humphrey from St Luke’s and St James’, said: “So far we have raised £1,415 from our Just Giving page and £1,470 from donations directly to the Christian Aid website.

“The total so far is £2,885. We have done very well - we have some very generous people in Glossopdale - and we have also had donations from Glossopians who now live in America!

“I am confident we will reach our £3,000 target - we will let you know when we do.”

The Just Giving page will be active until the end of June so there is still plenty of time to contribute. To donate, go to www.justgiving.com/team/GlossopdaleChurchesTogether
