High Peak MP Robert Largan has given his reaction to this week's Budget.
New Chancellor Rishi Sunak delivered his first Budget in the House of Commons on Wednesday afternoon (March 11).
Among the announcements for the region were a £30 billion coronavirus support package, a one-year business rates discount, additional money for the Potholes Fund, £5 billion to support the rollout of gigabit-capable broadband, and £5.2 billion for flood defences between 2021 and 2027.
There was also a written commitment from the government in relation to building the Mottram Bypass and Glossop Spur, as well as a strategic study of proposals for a full Trans-Pennine Tunnel.

The MP said: "People living and working across the High Peak will benefit from the Budget. It delivers on promises to invest in our infrastructure, the NHS and public services across the region, and tackles head-on the impact of COVID-19.
"Investment will reach record levels over the next five years, as the Conservatives commit to levelling up across the country.
"I am delighted that the Chancellor has set out measures to support families and help them with the cost of living, while continuing to invest in Britain’s future responsibly, laying the foundations for a decade of growth and prosperity."
