Man dies in flat fire

A man has died following a fire at his home in a Peak District village.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at a property on Brentwood Avenue in Bamford just after 7.15am on Monday (10 May).

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said an investigation is still ongoing into the cause of the blaze.

Firefighters and Community Safety Officers will be in the area on Tuesday offering fire safety advice and reassurance.

A spokesperson added: "Anyone seeking advice, please speak to one of the team at the Command Support Unit or Fire Service vehicles.

"Our thoughts are with the man’s friends and relatives at this time.

"No further information is available."
