Mountain rescue search for lost walker on Bleaklow

Mountain rescue crews launched a search party on Bleaklow to find a lost walker.

Glossop's heroes of the hills were called out on Wednesday evening (3 March) at around 7.05pm to help a man who had become separated from his walking party.

Glossop Mountain Rescue Team say the group of seven walkers were heading back from their visit to the B-29 crash site at the time.

They added that the group were all experienced hill walkers, from the same household, and they were well equipped for the conditions.

A spokesperson for Glossop MRT added: "Team members came across the separated man near to Crooked Clough, from where they then escorted him back to Snake Summit.

"25 team members took part, they stood down at 20.15."

GMRT - which receives no direct government funding - is continuing to appeal for donations to help ensure its volunteers can continue to turn out day and night to rescue people in wild and remote places.
