Nostalgia: Nick gets on his bike

ON TOUR: Nick Sanders from Glossop on another epic ride.

There was a time when two-wheeled adventurer Nick Sanders was hardly off the sports pages.

The Glossop Velo Road Club rider was clocking plenty of fast times and good results when he took part in local races.

But Nick made his name and the Chronicle columns in the early-1980s when he rode around the world on his bike.

Nick, who subsequently moved from Glossop, earned the description as one of the world’s ‘top adventurers’ as by both bike and also by motorcycle, he circled the globe touring scores of countries all on two wheels.
