In 1970, pupils at Warmbrook Country Junior School in Chapel-en-le-Frith put on their Christmas show despite facing power cuts.
Their programme had opened with a Nativity play and carol singing by first year pupils. It also featured instrumental accompaniments on recorders, chime bells and a glockenspiel.
Carols were also sung by second year students in a presentation of the story of Caedmon, the 7th century Anglo-Saxon.
There was also an amusing presentation of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland by the third year pupils.
The evening concluded with a production of popular pantomime, Aladdin, by the fourth year students, with the script adapted to be set locally.
A carol service was also held at the school for the residents of the old people’s home on Warmbrook Estate.
