With talk of snow possibly falling at any time, we decided to dig out this photograph to illustrate just how bad Glossop winters can be.
The scene is Norfolk Street, probably a hundred years ago.
It was long before huge snowploughs, when snow clearing was down to men with shovels and wheelbarrows.
The photograph shows three figures, possibly women, walking forlornly in the middle of the road, just passing what was Glossop Conservative Club.
For anyone who has just moved into Glossop, this is what winters can be like.
