Open mic night returns to Glossop

Glossop Open Mic returns for a third season on Thursday September 5th at Glossop Labour Club Chapel Street and the first Thursday of each month thereafter.

The event aims to provide a platform for experienced aspiring and novice writers to share their work. This can be poetry, flash fiction, monologues, one act plays short stories or extracts from an author’s latest novel. 

Glossop Labour Club provides an intimate venue which has become incredibly popular with performers.

Since the event started in September 2022 over fifty different writers some from as far away as Halifax and Doncaster have taken the opportunity to share their pieces of writing with a respectful audience. The range of topics knows no end and every month there are pieces to listen to and appreciate from new and experienced performers alike.

Each month there is a special guest performer many of whom have performed at much grander spaces such as The Royal Exchange Theatre, The Lowry or even Glastonbury but who are happy to come out to Glossop to provide a real treat for the audience.

The nights also feature a 15 minute musical interlude provided by local singer song writers Randy Horton and Sarah McConnell from New Mills (otherwise known as the Dimestore Dirtbags).
