Concerned parents living in Hadfield say "boy racers" are using their road as if it's a race track.
People living on Chapel Lane fear that their children are in danger as drivers aren’t slowing down to obey the speed limit.
With a nursing home nearby and Hadfield Infants School just around the corner, they’re worried there will be a bad accident.
One parent told us: "It’s mainly on Fridays and over the weekends that they race up and down Chapel Lane.
"It’s got to the stage where I won’t let my kids play out in the front garden without supervision, just in case one of them loses control and crashes through our fence.”
She added: "Sometimes it goes on until ten or eleven at night. It’s time something is done before somebody is killed or seriously injured.”
Other people living on Chapel Lane share her concerns.
Another said: "It’s got a lot worse since lockdown and with so many people having children around here, it’s getting really dangerous with the speeding drivers. I understand that lockdown has been tough on everyone and people now just want to have some fun. But there’s ways to do it without putting other people at risk."
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police told the Chronicle: "Our local PCSO has no knowledge of speeding issues on Chapel Lane. If residents are concerned they need to report the incidents to us."
