Plans to convert High Peak pub into housing

Plans have been submitted to convert a historic High Peak pub to provide new homes. 

The proposals are to create two houses and six flats at the Soldier Dick pub located on the main A6 in Furness Vale. 

The public house has been in operation on the site since 1804 but in documents submitted with the application it states that the pub is no longer financially viable. 

The current owner has provided a detailed assessment of the business and changes made to try and may it profitable since they bought the business back in 2015.  

They state that efforts have been made to turn the business around in already difficult trading conditions but the changes since Covid-19 means that it is no longer viable as a public house. 

If approved the property would be extended and converted to provide two three-bedroom houses with garden and parking facilities and a further six apartments that would have a mix of two or three bedrooms.
