Plans underway for Glossop Carnival

Preparations are already in full swing for this year’s Glossop Carnival, with organisers promising a packed weekend of family fun in the heart of the town.

The event, organised by the Glossop Art & Leisure Association, will take place on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July 2026 in Manor Park.

Over the two days, visitors can expect a wide range of entertainment for all ages. Highlights will include traditional brass bands, children’s entertainers and performances from Centre Stage Dance Academy. A fairground will also be on site, alongside craft, charity and trade stalls, as well as beer tents and refreshment stalls.

Dog lovers are in for a treat too, with canine events planned across both days. On the Saturday, the RSPCA will host its annual dog show, always a popular feature of the carnival. On the Sunday, Rebel Dogs will stage a “Dog Scurry”-– a timed race over jumps designed to test speed and agility. Further details about both events are expected to be announced closer to the date.

Organisers are currently inviting applications for craft, charity and trade stalls. Anyone interested in booking a stall can contact Jean on 07811 526455 for more information or an application form.

With the rising costs of staging large community events, the association is also planning to hold a raffle over the carnival weekend, with tickets on sale in the park. Local businesses are being asked to support the event by donating raffle prizes.

Anyone willing to contribute a prize is asked to contact Ann Flavell on 07938 760449 for further details.

Last year’s carnival drew large crowds and was hailed as a major success for the town. Organisers say they are determined to build on that momentum.

With live entertainment, family attractions and community spirit at its heart, Glossop Carnival 2026 is already shaping up to be one of the highlights of the summer calendar.
