Plug socket causes fire at Glossop house

A plug socket which caught fire at a house in Glossop led to firefighters attending to make the property safe.

Firefighters were called at around 4.40pm on Sunday afternoon (15 September) to a property on Tredcroft Street, where the fire was burning.

The blaze had been extinguished by the time crews arrived but firefighters ensured the house was safe and offered advice to the owner of the property on how to prevent a repeat fire.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Glossop Fire Station were called to a house fire on Tredcroft Street, Glossop.

"On scene, a plug socket had been involved in a fire which was out on arrival. Crews made the scene safe and gave advice."
