Police release CCTV image after graffiti sprayed on MP's office window

Police have released an image of a man who may have witnessed someone spraying graffiti on the office window of MP Robert Largan in Whaley Bridge.

The office, which is in Market Street, was vandalised just after 11pm last Saturday evening (15 January).

The word 'Lies' was repeatedly sprayed on the window of the Conservative MP's constituency office in orange paint.

The image shows a man, wearing a hooded top, who police believe walked past while the crime was taking place.

Issuing an appeal, Buxton Police Safer Neighbourhood Team say they would like to speak to the man or anyone else who witnessed what happened, as well as anyone who was driving in the area who has dash cam footage.

Anyone with information can contact police via the below methods, quoting reference 220*0030645:

• Facebook – send a private message to /DerbyshireConstabulary

• Twitter – direct message the contact centre on @DerPolContact

• Website – complete the online contact form www.derbyshire.police.uk/ContactUs.

• Phone – call 101.

Police were alerted on Sunday afternoon (16 January) when they were contacted by a member of the public who reported the graffiti.

The incident, which happened as public frustrations mount over stories of lockdown parties in Number 10 Downing Street, has been condemned by Labour politicians.

Mr Largan has declined to comment while police investigations are ongoing.
