A search operation is under way to find a missing man at a reservoir near Tintwistle.

Emergency services were called to Torside reservoir at around 10pm on Thursday evening (22 July) to reports of a man in the water.

Residents reported seeing a large number of emergency service vehicles travelling through Glossop and Hadfield around that time.

The fire service say the incident has now been handed over to Derbyshire Constabulary.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 10.10pm yesterday, 22 July 2021, crews from Glossop, Buxton and Greater Manchester’s Hyde Fire Station, attended Torside Reservoir, alongside Emergency Service partners, after reports of a man in the water.

"The incident has now been handed over to Derbyshire police.

"No further information is currently available."

Buxton Fire Station posted on Facebook on Thursday evening: "Crews from the station are unfortunately again involved in looking for a missing male at a Glossop reservoir this evening.

"Our boat crew is being assisted by Glossop and greater Manchester fire crews, police, HART team, paramedics and the police helicopter."

They also posted these two images of crews out on the reservoir looking in the water.

We have contacted Derbyshire Constabulary for more information.
