Vintage vehicles on display in Glossop

The cars were the stars as an array of modern and vintage vehicles were back on display in Glossop at the weekend.

Glossop Vehicle Enthusiasts Club's latest Military and Classic Vehicle Show took place last Sunday (22 August) in Manor Park.

One of Glossop's most popular events, it had to be cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic but returned with a line-up of classic cars, military and commercial vehicles, as well as a healthy crowd and some kind weather!

Members of the public toured the cars whilst the vehicles were judged during the show.

There were 23 awards to give out - including Best Commercial Vehicle, Best Club Stand and Pre War/1945 Vehicles.

Legendary former Glossop Chronicle editor David Jones was invited to help hand out the prizes.

Proceeds raised from vehicle exhibitors will support good causes including Mentell, Friends of Manor Park, Glossop Arts Project and SSAFA - who were all represented at the event.

Glossop's on call firefighters were also in attendance and carried out a Road Traffic Collision demo, as well as giving out safety advice.

Glossop Fire Station said on its Facebook page: "The crew absolutely loved getting back out into the community where they live, work and protect.

"It was a great turnout and thank you to all that came and said hello. We can’t wait to see you all again."

Founded in 2014, Glossop Vehicle Enthusiasts Club is a club in Glossop and the surrounding area for people interested in cars, bikes, military and commercial vehicles.

The club has thanked everyone who attended and supported the event.
