Walks to help people with dementia

A series of group walks has started to help people with dementia in Glossopdale.

Peak District National Park Ranger service are working alongside the Bureau and Be Well in Glossop to deliver the walks.

Anyone who is interested can meet up at 10.30am on first Friday of the month.

The walks will be tailored to an individual’s needs – from 15 minutes to 60.

Some research has indicated that reducing blood pressure lessens the symptoms of dementia.

Exercise can improve blood pressure and cardiovascular health.

Some research suggests that frequent, walks may improve memory and physical abilities in those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Each walk will end near a café, giving those a chance for a coffee and a chat.
