Warning to women about cervical screening scam

Women are being warned about a scam where they are being contacted saying they are overdue for cervical screening.

Derbyshire County Council's Trading Standards team is warning that some women are being contacted by text message, claiming to be from the call and recall service saying they are overdue for cervical screening - a free health test that helps prevent cervical cancer.

The message is asking women to call a mobile phone number and provide personal details.

Women are being urged not to respond or call the number, as the message is not from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.
