When Santa will be in your area

Plans are being finalised for Santa's tour of Glossopdale's streets during December.

Glossop Mountain Rescue Team is polishing the sleigh and Santa's enormous lockdown beard is getting a trim, ready to spread some much-needed festive cheer.

The dates that Santa will be out and about have been confirmed but GMRT say the detailed street-by-street routes will be published soon.

The team added: "As usual, it is not possible to visit every side road or cul-de-sac and we are really sorry if we are not able to visit your street."

GMRT confirmed earlier in November that it was still planning for Santa to do his rounds this year, albeit with some changes in order to make it safe for everyone.

This is when Santa will be in your area:

Saturday 12 December: Hadfield North and Padfield

Sunday 13 December: Hadfield Central

Monday 14 December: Hadfield South

Tuesday 15 December: Shirebrook Park

Wednesday 16 December: Old Glossop

Thursday 17 December: Gamesley and Charlesworth

Friday 18 December: Simmondley North including Primrose Lane

Saturday 19 December: North Glossop

Sunday 20 December: Simmondley South

Monday 21 December: South Glossop - Pikes Lane and Whitfield

Due to Covid-19, GMRT say that most of Santa's elves will have to stay at home this year and won't be knocking on doors as he approaches, but there will be a tracker available via Facebook to follow Santa's progress online and regular updates will also be posted.

Giving advice to residents, GMRT added in a statement: "Please remain on your own property where you can or where not please maintain social distancing and wave to Santa from a safe distance. We are sorry that we won't be giving out sweets and please don't approach Santa or the sleigh. Please respect whatever other government rules are in place at the time."

Glossop Mountain Rescue Team says it will really appreciate any financial support that people can give to the team.

You can donate via the team's JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/glossopmrt, Facebook page or website www.gmrt.org.uk where there are various donation links, plus collection tins are in many shops and venues around the area.

People can also donate by phone by texting GMRT 2 to 70470 to donate £2 or change the number to whatever donation amount you wish. Texts will cost the amount they wish to donate plus one standard rate message.
