Passengers and their dogs were sent flying across a coach that overturned on a sharp bend on the Snake Pass three miles out of Glossop.
Carrying 30 members of the Oldham Terrier Club it was heading for a dog show in Sheffield on a Saturday afternoon in June, 1950, when the accident happened.
Eight women and a nine-year-old girl were among 15 people injured after being showered by splintered glass.
They were taken by ambulance to be treated at Glossop’s Woods Hospital.
None were seriously hurt and they were soon released after being treated for cuts, bruises and shock.
There were no casualties amongst the terriers but several had to be rounded up after running away.
