A charity race day raised an impressive £1,900 for the 6th Royton Scout Hut in Oldham on Saturday.
The funds will help towards improving the outside area of the building on Thorp Road, Royton.
The day was packed with lots of refreshments and was attended by the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Eddie Moores and Lady Mayoress Kath Moores.
Children also enjoyed themselves with fun activities organised by Catherine Madeley, chair of the 6th Royton Scout Hut, who also runs dance classes there and at Billingtons in Oldham.

Catherine said: “Last year, we raised £3,500 which paid for the new floor inside the building and this year’s fund will help towards the outside of the building which needs a bit of work doing.
“The day was fabulous, and everyone had fun. One of my dancers, Linda Holden donated a sum of money to allow us to have a new kitchen and the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Eddie Moores presented her with flowers.”
The businesses which sponsored the races included; ABC Dance, Momentum Market Place insurance, Eternal Health Chiropractor; Shannon Design, Masonic Lodge of Hope NO. 54 Rochdale, Fix Auto Manchester, M2 Hospitality, Profix Plumbers and many more.
Children’s dance classes are held at the 6th Royton Scout Hut, every Fridays from 5.30pm-6.30pm. These are for youngsters aged two and a half to eight years.
A new Squirrels group for children, aged four to six, runs at the same venue on Saturdays from 9am-10am.
