Police are concerned after discarded firework casings were found on Wednesday in one of the upper fields at Dove Stone, the well known popular Saddleworth beauty spot.
This particular area is covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).
Police said: ”No damage to the moorland or surrounding area appears to have occurred on this occasion, it is clear some individuals are still visiting the site with prohibited items.
“The PSPO exists to prevent moorland fires and protect both the landscape and nearby property. We urge everyone visiting Dove Stone and the wider PSPO‑protected area to remain vigilant.
"If you see anyone in possession of fireworks, BBQs, or any open flame, items all prohibited under the order. Please report it to us immediately.”
They added: ”Your Neighbourhood Team will continue to patrol the area and will take positive action against anyone found with these items.”
