The Conservatives have now lost every seat they had in Greater Manchester going into this general election.
In 2019, they also won Bury South – where the results are yet to be declared – but the Tory winner later defected to Labour.
The loss of Altrincham and Sale West is historic. It has been held by Sir Graham Brady, who has stepped down, since 1997.
Altrincham has had a Conservative MP for nearly 100 years. The constituency has never been represented by a Labour MP.
