GMP Ramadan message: Stay safe and alert

Police offer safety advice for Ramadan.

Greater Manchester Police has issued safety advice to the Muslim community fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

While the force wished local people a safe and peaceful period, it also offered them helpful tips while they observed the fast.

A spokesperson for GMP, on its website Bee in the Loop, said: “As many of you travel to and from prayers, visit mosques, and gather with family and friends, please remember these simple safety tips:

“Stay aware of your surroundings when travelling, especially during early morning and late‑evening prayers, keep personal belongings secure and valuables out of sight, use well-lit routes and busy areas where possible, if driving to prayers, park responsibly and be considerate of local residents.

“Report anything suspicious to us straightaway – your awareness helps keep everyone safe.”

Greater Manchester Police can be contacted on:

  • Emergency: Call 999

  • Non‑emergency: Call 101

  • Report anonymously (Crimestoppers): 0800 555 111
