Drivers face overnight M60 closures for the next two weekends as major roadworks continue near Audenshaw.
National Highways say motorists using the M60 near Audenshaw are being urged to plan ahead as a new phase of essential roadworks gets underway between junctions 23 and 24.
Following the completion of drainage improvements in May, work has now moved on to resurfacing both carriageways, alongside the replacement of traffic sensors, bridge joints and road markings.
The scheme, which runs until Tuesday 21st July, will require a series of overnight closures, as well as some daytime lane restrictions.
National Highways say most of the work will take place overnight to minimise disruption, although drivers should expect delays and diversions during closure periods.
Key closures include:
Friday 10th July, overnight only (9pm to 6am):
-
Full closure of M60 junction 24-23 anticlockwise
Saturday 11th July, daytime closure (6am to 9pm):
-
Lane 1 closure, M60 junction 24-23 anticlockwise
Saturday 11th July (from 9pm) through to Monday 13 July (6am):
-
Full closure M60 junction 24-23 anticlockwise
Friday 17th July, both overnight only (9pm to 6am):
-
Full closure of M60 junction 23-24 clockwise
Saturday 18th July, daytime lane closure (6am to 9pm):
-
Lane 1 closure, M60 junction 23-24 clockwise
Saturday 18th July (9pm) through to Monday 20 July (6am):
-
Full closure of M60 junction 23-24 clockwise
Signed diversion routes will be in place throughout.
Drivers and nearby residents are also being warned to expect increased noise levels, particularly where work requires road surfaces to be dried before new markings are applied.
A spokesperson said: “We’d like to apologise in advance for any disturbance this may cause and thank drivers for their patience while we carry out these essential improvements.”
Road users are advised to allow extra time for journeys and check travel updates before setting off.
