Lifelong football fan and legendary Oldham Athletic Matchday Press Officer Roy Butterworth has reached yet another milestone for local cancer charity Maggie's Oldham.
Proceeds from his self-published book ‘A Fan On The Inside’ have been donated to the centre, who support people with cancer and their family and friends in Oldham, Tameside, Rochdale and beyond.
After hitting the £2,000 mark in April, Roy has raced to the total of £2,500 by August, with more books on the way.
The proceeds from Roy’s books will help Maggie’s Oldham to continue their free programme of support, enabling individuals and families to access support when they need it most.
Trish Morgan, Centre Head at Maggie’s Oldham, said: “Once again we’d like to thank Roy for all his efforts to raise funds for our centre. We really do appreciate it and his contribution makes all the difference to our centre visitors.”
A club spokesperson from Oldham Athletic said: “It’s fantastic to see Roy’s book continue to raise funds for Maggie’s. He’s a big part of this football club and continues to have an impact, going above and beyond in everything he does.
"He loves the club and the town and will take great pride in being able to share his stories whilst helping a worthwhile cause. Well done, Roy and thank you for always keeping the faith!"
