A First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) apprentice joiner has received a top gold award in a local skills contest.
Angelise Johnston, who works in FCHO's voids team, won the accolade at Oldham College’s Year Two Joinery Apprentices’ Competition.
The 18-year-old picked up the gold award by achieving the highest score in her class for 'setting out a roof'.
“I was surprised and really pleased to win the competition," Angelise said.
"I’m putting a lot into my course and my job at FCHO and I was relieved to get these results. It shows the hard work does pay off.”
The competition judges said of her win: "Angelise's setting out drawing was the neatest and most accurate out of the rest of the competitors, working to tolerances that hit distinction criteria for her end point assessment.”
FCHO director of people and culture Richard Sandiford added: “We’re proud of Angelise’s achievement but everyone here at FCHO is not remotely surprised.
“Her hard work and attitude in making sure our vacant properties are brought up to standard for new customers is quite simply excellent.”
