Two Oldham Mountain Rescue Team members made an early start on Saturday at the request of South Pennine Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA).
They presented a cheque of £650, before they continued on up to the hills to do a quick 14-mile hike with over 3000m of elevation.
This money had been raised by the group earlier this year by doing a SP24 Anytime Challenge, which was specifically to assist Oldham Mountain Rescue Team to continue with their fantastic work.
OMRT's leader Rob Tortoishell said: "We are incredibly grateful for the donation, after what has been a quiet two years in terms of fundraising, with events hindered by Covid-19.
"A massive thank you to everyone involved with SPLDWA, we are incredibly grateful for all your support and generosity. From everyone at OMRT we wish you all a very happy Christmas."
