Active Tameside Centres to Close On Monday

Active Tameside has confirmed that its centres will be closed on Monday, 19 September to honour the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

A statement on Active's website read:

As Monday 19th September 2022 has been confirmed as a Bank Holiday for the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, it is confirmed that all Active Tameside activities and services will be temporarily suspended on this day.

This will allow individuals and businesses to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.

All centres and services will close from midnight on Sunday 18th September and reopen as usual on Tuesday 20th September with standard opening times – this closure includes our 24 hour gyms at Active iTrain and the Tameside Wellness Centre which both will reopen at 6am on 20th September.

For any customers who have scheduled swimming or gymnastic lessons, we will adjust any direct debit payments accordingly.

We recognise that many of our customers will travel to Buckingham Palace and other royal residences as a mark of their respect. You should expect significant crowding and delays on some public transport and be advised to check ahead and plan accordingly.

We thank you for your understanding as we join many other businesses and individuals in coming together to mark this significant moment in history and look forward to welcoming our customers back to centres from Tuesday 20th September.

Best wishes,

The Active Tameside Team.
