Ashton secure Eastham loan until end of season

Ashton United have extended the loan of high-rated goalkeeper Jordan Eastham until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old stopper has made 17 appearances since joining from Blackburn Rovers in September, keeping clean sheets in the wins over Leek Town and FC United.

Eastham impressed on loan at Hyde United last season, keeping 8 clean sheets in 20 games and helping the Tigers to victory in the Cheshire Senior Cup, where he scored and saved a penalty in the shoot-out against Crewe Alexandra.

The goalkeeper joined his boyhood club ten years ago, reaching the semi-final of the 2020 FA Youth Cup and being a regular for Rovers’ Development Squad.

“We’re delighted that Jordan’s signed," Ashton United manager Steve Cunningham told the Reporter. "The goalkeeper position is the hardest to fill with someone that you can trust on a regular basis.

“He’s had the opportunity to go back and train with Blackburn, but he wants minutes, he’s really enjoyed his time here, and he’s determined to help us finish in the play-offs.

“I really believe we’ve got the best keeper in the division.”
