Avro through to next round of FA Trophy

A thrilling match on the road saw Avro achieve a 2-1 win against Liversedge FC which will see the side progress through to the next round of the FA Trophy competition.

The side travelled to West Yorkshire for the match and a crowd of around 200 people watched the fixture take place.

The first-half was a tight affair that saw both teams trying to gain the upper hand.

Unsurprisingly, the two sides came off the pitch at the break to a 0-0 scoreline.

The second-half was a more entertaining affair with the hosts initially taking the lead in the 50th minute before Joe Walton scored.

Over 20 minutes passed before Avro responded to tie the game up.

Liam Ellis hit a beautiful header off the back of a Chiekh Thiam cross to get the visitors back into the game.

The goal gave The RO more confidence and they started to step up the attacks.

Darren Ehimamiegho came onto the pitch in place of Kyle Hawley and immediately threatened the host’s goal.

Later, the Liversedge keeper made a fantastic save to keep his side in the match.

In the final stages of the match, Benito Lowe hit the winner with a strong shot to ensure that Avro were the victors.

"The lads have given us everything," said Avro joint manager, David Birch.
"We have not been getting the rub of the green and today it changed but your luck changes with hard work.
"The side worked hard and it paid off."

Avro will now play the next round at home on Saturday, September 21 against a yet to be determined opposition.
