A local favourite attracting some of the best runners in the community, the Black Knight Charge is back on the calendar for 2023.
The Local Runners Podcast and East Cheshire Harriers are once again teaming up to ensure this iconic race is a highlight of the summer.
A challenging 6-mile route, the Black Knight Charge takes in the most beautiful surroundings of the Medlock Valley, following hilly sections and rugged routes around Daisy Nook and Park Bridge.
In 2022 the senior race was a sell-out and saw a strong field taking part.
Local legend David Barratt took the win with a brilliant time of 33.19 in the men’s race. For the women the crown went to Sophie Wood of Sale Harriers with an impressive time of 37.34.
The event also sees a junior 2-mile race for U16’S, inviting young athletes to face off in an exciting run.
In 2022, the top 2 were split by just 2 seconds with Marshall Fleet winning in 11.21 and Alfie Manser just behind in 11.23, both representing East Cheshire Harriers.
It was an incredible race, gathering runners of all abilities and making for an excellent night of sport.
